Project Goals:
Complete approvals for a complex Energex embedded generation connection, consisting of;
- Connection Application & RPEQ Compliance Assessment Report for 1MW PV array
- Connection Application & RPEQ Compliance Assessment Report for Generators, 3960kVA in total
CTP Scope:
- Protection design and study
- Connection application submission incl RPEQ sign off
- DNSP negotiations
- System commissioning review and issue of RPEQ compliance assessment report
- Completion of connection approval with Energex
Timeframe:
- Aug 19 – June 20
Project Challenges:
- Ensuring the protection was coordinated between the solar and the diesel
- Ensuring the system has sufficient redundancy – fail safe
- Due to the generators paralleling with the grid, a stand-by generator application was submitted which imposed strict grid protection requirements
- Working with new Energex requirements and standards for diesel generators
- Working with multiple parties in the closing stages of a complex construction project
Project Results:
- The installations met requirements to connect to the Energex Distribution Network in June 2020.
