Principal Electrical Engineer

A dynamic, self-motivated and organized professional with over 10 years of experience in electrical transmission and distribution systems. Prior to joining CTP in 2016, he worked in Colombia where he successfully participated and led numerous research projects in the field of electricity transmission, distribution, and stability. During that time, he also earned a Master’s degree in electrical engineering. He is a Chartered Professional Engineer with Engineers Australia and a Registered Professional Engineer in Queensland.

As a Principal Engineer at CTP, Carlos has been in charge of the detailed electrical design for complex hybrid and utility scale projects up to capacities of 150MW, accumulating experience on over 1 GW of projects. Some of his activities include HV/LV design, protection systems design and coordination, earthing system design, transformer selection, cabling system (HV/LV/DC), metering design (including FCAS metering), steady state and dynamic modelling, amongst others. As part of the Power Systems Team, Carlos has overseen a number of high-profile projects with different technologies (Solar PV, Wind, BESS and Synchronous machines) both on grid and off-grid and registered and non-registered generators.

Carlos prides himself on his excellent analytical skills, well developed grasp of scientific principles and engineering theory to design original and novel solutions to complex problems.
